As you travel around the Hills, you will notice the thousands of apple, pear, stone fruit and cherry trees, and vegetables of many varieties. In addition there are numerous thoroughbred horse and cattle studs and dairy farms. Wine-grape growing is expanding very rapidly, and it is anticipated that the Hills Area will soon equal the Barossa Valley in terms of volume produced, thus reclaiming its position held earlier last century as one of the leading Australian wine-producing areas. Hills wines are internationally acclaimed as some of the world's finest. A comprehensive list of wineries is available in your suite. For the keen golfer there are 18 hole courses at Echunga, Hahndorf, Mt. Barker and Stirling; all within easy driving distance. Cleland Wildlife Park - 3 km away! Summit Rd, Crafers - The wildlife park is nestled in a natural bushland setting in the centre of Cleland Conservation Park and offers the opportunity to wander freely amongst kangaroos, wallabies, emus and waterfowl etc. If you time it right, you can cuddle a koala too! Gorge Wildlife Park - Redden Drive, Cudlee Creek - Australia's largest private collection of animals and birds, in 14 acres of natural bushland, with new and improved exhibits being added all the time. Heysen - The Cedars - Hahndorf - The home and studio of renowned Australian artist, Sir Hans Heysen. Open for viewing by means of daily guided tours at 11am, 1pm and 3pm in summer, and 11am and 2pm in winter. Historic Hahndorf - The Hills' most popular tourist destination. A delightful expanse of arts and craft outlets, cafés and restaurants of all types, gourmet food shops, all housed in restored heritage-listed buildings which truly delight the first-time visitor. Mt. Lofty Botanical Gardens - Magnificent gardens featuring hundreds of cooler climate plants and trees spread over a vast area from the top of Mt. Lofty to the floor of the Piccadilly Valley. A must for all visitors. Mt. Lofty Summit - The highest peak in the Mt. Lofty Ranges, at 727 metres (2,385ft). offering superb views overlooking Adelaide, the hills and Spencer Gulf. Ideal for lunch at the Summit Restaurant, or for dinner to see the lights of Adelaide. National Motor Museum - Main Street, Birdwood - Houses the nation's most important collection of Vintage and Classic Motor Cars and Motor Cycles - over 300. Set in a beautiful 20 acre complex, it is well worth a visit for motoring enthusiasts. Stirling and Aldgate Townships - Delightful old homes and mansions on acreage, the retreat of the original aristocracy of 19th century Adelaide. Arts and craft shops, cafés, galleries etc., set amongst thousands of hectares of typical English trees. The Autumn hues are breathtaking... Warrawong Sanctuary - Stock Rd, Mylor - Eco-tourism at its best! Warrawong is totally unique and offers the ultimate wildlife experience!
